Reigning World Champ and Oklahoma Young Gun Split Round Two Victory

Tune in to VERSUS to see the conclusion of the Mohegan Sun Invitational, the final stop of the 2009 regular BFTS season.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (October 17, 2009) - The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) brought the best bull riders in the world to Uncasville, Conn., for round two of the 2009 Mohegan Sun Invitational presented by Cooper Tires.  At the end of Saturday evening’s performance, 2008 World Champion Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) and Oklahoma young gun Ryan McConnel (Colgate, Okla.) left Mohegan Sun Arena splitting the round two victory after each scored 87 points.  Marchi rode the bull, Chocolate Chip, owned by Danny Reagan Bucking Bulls, while McConnel took on a re-ride bull, Ding-a-Ling of Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls.  Each collected a check for $2,340.

Splitting third and fourth place were North Carolina superstar J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.) and New Mexico man Travis Briscoe (Edgewood, N.M.) after each rode their bulls to 86.75 points. Mauney faced Berger Bucking Bulls’ Big Coyote and Briscoe conquered the bull, Clam Digger of Dakota Rodeo/John & Lacey Berger.  Rounding out fifth place was current no. 1 bull rider in the world Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) who scored 86 points on the bull, Total Package, owned by Danny Reagan Bucking Bulls.

Due to receiving the higher back judge score during last night’s round one, Travis Briscoe (Edgewood, N.M.) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round two of the Mohegan Sun Invitational.  Because of his qualified ride on the bull, Clam Digger, owned by Dakota Rodeo/John & Lacey Berger, Briscoe was awarded the $5,000 bonus.

The Mohegan Sun Invitational presented by Cooper Tires concludes tomorrow as the top 40 bull riders in the world compete to see who will win the 31st and final event of the 2009 regular BFTS season.  Find out who will not only take home the coveted event title, but who will be making the trip to Las Vegas to compete at the 2009 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals.   Catch all of the action when VERSUS airs round three and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round on Sunday, October 18 at 7 p.m. EST.
